As an ASE Certified auto repair shop, we regularly attend training to keep our Technician Certifications up to date.

Owner, Technician, Service Adviser, Etc.

Pete is a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. He has been involved with cars all his life. He started out working in his father’s service station in 1969 and then he purchased the business when it moved to its present location in 1991.

Pete is an ASE Certified Master Technician, ASE Certified Parts Specialist, and ASE Certified Service Advisor.

His interests are hot rods, hot wheels, reading, camping, and bicycle riding.

Nita Harksell

Co-owner and Office Manager/Bookkeeper

Nita is a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. She has been involved with the business since it opened in 1991. Before that she was a stay at home mom to their son.

She attended the Bellingham Technical College for secretarial and bookkeeping. Nita was the treasurer for the Whatcom unit of NWACA from 2001 to 2012 and is currently holding this position again.  

Her interests include cooking, making pies, gardening, bicycle riding, and writing poetry.

My name is Allie and I have been working at Pete’s for 9 years now. I started in the shop as an intern and eventually moved up front with the customers. I love helping and continuing to help keep your vehicles on the road. My daughter Jordyn is now 5 years old and loves helping around the shop sometimes too.

Alonso

Alonso

My name is Alonso, I have worked here at Pete’s auto repair for about over 5 years. I started off as an intern, and was hired on after I graduated from the Bellingham Technical College Automotive technology program. Some of my favorite hobbies are playing chess and working on cars, specifically lowriders. I have an ’86 Oldsmobile Cutlass supreme, and a project 1964 Chevrolet impala. I am the president of my own lowrider car club and enjoy going to car shows and cruising around town on a warm summer evening. I am also a father to two boy beautiful boys: Daniel who is 4 and Isaac who is 6-months. I am very detail oriented and every job I perform, I make sure it is done to the best of my abilities. I look forward to keeping your vehicle in tip top shape.

Troy

My name is Troy and I was born and raised in Whatcom County. I graduated from Ferndale High School in 2001 and attended UTI in Houston, Texas. I graduated the automotive program there in 2006 with honors. This gave me my degree in Automotive Technology and I was also able to complete a Ford F.A.C.T. (Ford Accelerated Credential Training) course. I have since worked in eight shops across three states which has helped me continue to learn and grow in the industry. I am an ASE master certified technician and ASE under car certified. I moved back to Washington in 2010 and have been back at Pete’s Auto Repair since February of 2023. I like to spend a lot of time on trails and in the woods camping with my dog.

Jonathan

Hello my name is Jonathan Mendoza and I was born and raised in Bellingham, WA. My hobbies are working on cars trying to learn more about them and seeing how they work. I am the proud father of Oscar who is just under a year. I personally have a 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme as my project car that I work on in my free time with family and friends. I have been working at Pete’s Auto Repair for over 2 years now and love waking up to fixing things. I love the feeling of knowing that I am doing what I can to keep your vehicle up to date on service and in a good/reliable condition for your every day life.
